When Ursula von der Leyen presented her EU commissioners and their departments last September, a murmur went through the European arts and culture landscape: Culture won't have a department of its own any more! For those of us working in arts and culture, this disturbing development raises a number of questions. Which is why we're all the more excited that Sabine Verheyen, chair of the committee on culture and education, is making her way from Brussels to Berlin to discuss it with us, as well as answering general questions about European arts and culture policy. The discussion participants include Janina Benduski, chair of the German Association of Independent Performing Arts board, as well as Frank Heuel, Fringe Ensemble artistic director. The discussion will be hosted by Ulrike Kuner, president of the European Association of Independent Performing Arts.
The event will be held in German and will be translated simultaneously into English. There is no need to register for the event.
