Freedom of Art – Freedom of Society

 Fri 17. January 2020, 10:30 h | 60 Minutes
  HAU 2 | Bühne, Berlin

»Free« (independent) performing arts is the term for what we do every day. »Freedom of art« on the other hand, is a fundamental right in Germany. What does the one »free« mean and how does our independence relate to the freedom of art in general? How free are we really and does any alleged or real freedom give us a free pass to act without any restrictions? Is interaction in and with society part of the very foundations of the freedom of art?

Martina Grohmann, artistic director of the Theater Rampe in Stuttgart discusses questions of this kind and more, together with Dr. Carsten Brosda, senator of culture and media in Hamburg, and Tom Wolter, German Association of Independent Performing Arts' deputy chairman and artistic director of the WUK Theater Quartier (Halle).

The talk will be held in German and will be translated simultaneously into English. There is no need to register for the event.
