Cultural education is a fundamental area of the independent performing arts: 60 percent of those in the independent scene describe themselves as very active or active in the area of cultural education, according to a study commissioned by the German Association of Independent Performing Arts on national funding structures for cultural education. Many independent performing artists perceive their work in cultural education not as a side-job in comparison to their artistic work, but rather as the core of their artistic practice itself.
Prof. Dr. Kristin Westphal illuminates the term cultural education in a short keynote address, describing its significance for the practice of contemporary performing arts. Afterwards Dr. Aron Weigl will present an overview of the results of the German Association of Independent Performing Arts' 2108 study on funding structures for cultural education. This is followed by a discussion with both speakers and Eckhard Mittelstädt, project lead of »tanz und theater machen stark« by the German Association of Independent Performing Arts.
The event will be held in German and will be translated simultaneously into English. There is no need to register for the event.
