Whether it's with "community theatre" or "citizens’ stages" - many people active in the independent scene have worked on professional theatre projects with amateurs. This federal congress event is an opportunity to talk about working in this field, while considering what an independent community theatre of the future could look like.
What challenges does this work entail? What unique opportunities does it open up? Where can we tap into additional potential? What basic conditions must be met? How can we strengthen each other? What (cultural policy) measures are required for further development?
Both Heike Scharpff, director and expert on cultural education associated with the BFDK, and Matthias Schulze-Kraft, member of the BFDK board and artistic director of the LICHTHOF Theatre (Hamburg), have extensive experience in this field and are looking forward to discussing community theatre with others involved in it.
